Making Memories May 2023

Some of the family trips we have done have been very messy but our trip to Soap Lake was one we want to repeat over and over again. The water was so different there, it was cool felt very soft. The mud around the lake was silky and when you got out of the mud or even out of the water the residue dried white on your skin! 
This is how we all looked after drying off from playing in the water! It was wild. 

The lake was absolutely huge and the scenery was so beautiful we stayed and played for hours. Surprisingly the water stayed shallow for a good stretch and the whole family could play safely. The kids favorite activity was searching for cool looking rocks and throwing the big sticks as far as we could into the lake. 
If you're looking for a free family day trip Soap Lake WA is absolutely beautiful, the area has clean bathrooms, showers, and picnic benches with ample parking right up on the lake.

This is a simple recipe, you can have everything prepped in 5 minutes! No slaving over a pot for hours, and if you use a tin pan you can toss the empty pan after its eaten and no dishes get dirty.  Just dump everything in the sheet pan, pop in the oven, and soon you will have a delicious dessert.  I used:  2 cans of apple pie filling 1 bag of kraft caramel bits  1 box of yellow cake mix  8oz of butter (fully melted)  *Optional vanilla ice cream  To make use a 13x9 inch pan lightly sprayed with pam cooking oil. Add both cans of pie filling to greased pan and spread evenly then top the apple mix with the caramel bits. After you have that done sprinkle the dry cake mix over the mixture (dont mix anything!).
